How long does the climb take?

Around 3–5 hours up via the main Hatton/Nallathanniya route, depending on fitness and crowds, with most pilgrims starting between midnight and 2am to reach the summit for sunrise.

How difficult is the climb?

It's a sustained climb of around 5,500 steps with significant elevation gain — strenuous but achievable for most reasonably fit visitors, especially given the steady pace set by the crowds.
