Big Bend National Park occupies a remote bend of the Rio Grande in far west Texas, where desert, river canyons and the surprisingly forested Chisos Mountains meet in one of the least-visited and darkest-skied national parks in the country. Hot springs right on the Mexican border, hikes through Santa Elena Canyon's towering rock walls, and stargazing free of light pollution make it a reward for those willing to drive the long distances to get there.
