About Charyn Canyon

Charyn Canyon stretches 120 kilometres through Kazakhstan's steppe—a geological marvel carved by the Charyn River creating 300-metre cliffs and otherworldly rock formations. The Castles section features spires and towers of red rock rising vertically from the canyon floor. Remote and sparsely visited, the canyon remains pristine despite nearby Almaty.
