Gulmarg is Kashmir's premier hill resort, a flower-carpeted meadow in summer and one of India's best ski destinations in winter, served by the Gondola — one of the highest cable cars in the world, which climbs toward Apharwat Peak in two stages. Pony rides across the meadow, golf on what's billed as the world's highest green, and views toward Nanga Parbat on clear days give it appeal well beyond the ski season.

Traveler reviews

★★★★★

Skiing in Gulmarg was a completely different experience from European resorts — fewer crowds, stunning views, and the Gondola ride alone is worth the trip.

James O. · February 2024
★★★★★

Visited in spring and the meadows were covered in wildflowers with snow still on the peaks above. The pony ride up to Khilanmarg was a highlight.

Reema S. · May 2024
★★★★☆

Snow conditions were great and the views from the top of the Gondola toward Nanga Parbat were incredible on a clear day. Facilities are more basic than European resorts but the scenery makes up for it.
