Los Roques is an archipelago of around 350 coral islands and cays north of Caracas, ringing a turquoise lagoon often compared to the best of the Caribbean's classic atolls. With no large resorts, accommodation is mostly in small posadas on the main island of Gran Roque, from where boats ferry visitors to deserted white-sand cays for the day.
