Mount Revelstoke National Park crowns the Selkirk Mountains with old-growth cedar forests, subalpine meadows ablaze with wildflowers in midsummer, and the Meadows in the Sky Parkway, one of the few roads in Canada that climbs almost to a summit. Just below, the town of Revelstoke combines a railway heritage core with access to some of the deepest snowpack in North America, drawing backcountry skiers and cat-skiing operators each winter. Summer visitors come for hiking, mountain biking, and rafting on the Columbia River.

Driving the Meadows in the Sky Parkway at sunset was unforgettable — wildflowers everywhere and views over the Columbia Valley for miles.

The snow here is no joke. We did a day of cat-skiing and it was the deepest powder either of us had ever experienced.

Revelstoke is a great low-key base — friendly town, good breweries, and the national park trails are well maintained and uncrowded.
