About Punakha

Punakha Dzong rises majestically where the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers meet, its white walls and golden roofs mirrored in the water below. Built in 1637, the fortress-monastery remains the winter seat of the Bhutanese spiritual leader. Cherry blossoms explode across the valley in March; rice grows in terraced paddies.
