About Raiatea
Raiatea, considered the sacred ancestral homeland of Polynesian culture, is home to the marae of Taputapuatea, a UNESCO World Heritage site that was once the religious and political center from which Polynesian voyagers set out across the Pacific. Unlike its famous neighbor Bora Bora, Raiatea sees few tourists, offering a quieter view of lagoon life, vanilla plantations and sacred history.
