Tegucigalpa, Honduras's capital, spreads across a bowl of hills in the country's mountainous interior, its colonial core of narrow streets and pastel facades giving way to a sprawling, traffic-heavy modern city. Most visitors pass through briefly en route to the Bay Islands or Copán, but the National Museum, hillside Christ statue and nearby cloud-forest reserves reward a day or two of exploring.
