About The Valley
The Valley is Anguilla's capital, though calling it a city is generous—it's barely a village of pastel-colored houses and a few shops. What matters is that Anguilla has 33 beaches of powdery sand and crystalline water so clear that swimming feels like levitation. Shoal Bay's half-mile arc of white sand regularly ranks among the world's best beaches. This island prioritizes peace over development.

The Valley is Anguilla's understated capital on an island that has built its reputation on doing very little, very well — flat, scrubby, and dotted with some of the most ravishing white-sand beaches in the Caribbean, from Shoal Bay to Meads Bay. There is little in the way of conventional sightseeing here; the point is the beaches, the barefoot-luxury restaurants, and a quietness that more developed islands lost long ago.

Traveler reviews
★★★★★
Shoal Bay East is, without exaggeration, the best beach I've ever been to. Anguilla is expensive but the calm and beauty are worth it.

The barbecue at a beach shack on Sandy Ground was a brilliant, laid-back evening with live music and great rum punch.

Quiet doesn't begin to describe it, in the best way. Meads Bay at sunset was unforgettable, just bring a good book and relax.
