About Varadero

Varadero stretches along a narrow peninsula on Cuba's north coast, lined with some of the Caribbean's finest white-sand beaches and turquoise shallows. Long an all-inclusive resort hub, it offers a more relaxed pace than Cuba's cities, with warm tropical temperatures year-round and the bulk of rain falling in the hurricane-season summer months. Beyond sunbathing, the area is a launchpad for diving, golf and excursions to nearby Havana, just a couple of hours west.

Varadero is Cuba's classic beach escape — a 20km peninsula of powdery white sand and turquoise shallows lined with all-inclusive resorts, but with the real Cuba never far away. Day trips into Havana or the nearby town of Cárdenas offer vintage cars, live salsa and a glimpse of life beyond the resort gates.

Traveler reviews

★★★★☆

The beach really is as good as the photos — soft sand and warm, calm water. We took a day trip to Havana which was a great contrast to resort life.

Perfect for unwinding after a busier trip around Cuba. Snorkelling trip to Cayo Blanco was a highlight.

Resort was great value with everything included. Cárdenas day trip gave us a real taste of local Cuban life away from the tourist strip.
