Villa La Angostura sits on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi at the start of Argentina's famous Seven Lakes Route, a chalet-style town wrapped in dense Patagonian forest. Its star attraction is the Arrayanes National Park, home to a forest of cinnamon-barked myrtle trees so unusual it's said to have inspired Disney's Bambi forest scenes. Quieter and more upmarket than nearby Bariloche, it makes an excellent base for lake views, short hikes, and long, unhurried lunches with a mountain backdrop.
