Yala National Park is Sri Lanka's most visited wildlife reserve and one of the best places in Asia to see leopards in the wild, alongside elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles and a huge variety of birdlife across its mix of scrubland, lagoons and rocky outcrops. Early morning and late afternoon jeep safaris, departing from lodges and campsites around the park's edge, offer the best chances of sightings as animals move during the cooler hours.
