On the Argentine side, Iguazú Falls is an immersive, often soaking experience — walkways lead out across the river to stand directly beneath thundering cascades at the aptly named Devil's Throat, and a network of trails through subtropical jungle brings you eye-level with dozens of smaller falls. Toucans, capuchin monkeys and butterflies share the park with the crowds, and the Argentine side offers far more trail mileage than the famous panoramic views across the border in Brazil.

The falls are impressive year-round, but water levels are highest from November to March (also hot and humid) and lower from July to September, when paths are less crowded.

Many visitors do both — the Argentine side offers close-up trails and the Devil's Throat walkway, while the Brazilian side gives the classic panoramic view of the whole falls system.

How much walking is involved?

The Upper and Lower Circuits are flat, well-maintained trails of a few kilometres each; the Devil's Throat trail involves a short train ride plus a level walkway over the river.
